How to disable the \”Log in to iCloud\” nag when logging in to computer lab workstations?

Every time a user logs in to a computer workstation running Mac OS 10.7, the \”Log in to iCloud\” nag screen appears….  How can I disable this?

Very simply, open the Mac OS X Terminal, and use this command:
defaults write com.apple.SetupAssistant DidSeeCloudSetup -bool TRUE
This will prevent the System Preference / iCloud preferences from opening for new users…

Let\’s get those photocopiers moving again, Microsoft…

Well, Microsoft is consistent.  At their Surface demonstration, it was like they had a bad transcript of the iPad launch.

On Monday, Microsoft held a secret press event in Los Angeles where it announced a new family of tablets under the Surface moniker. Along with Surface, the event revealed a branding shift for Microsoft, one that values the unity of hardware and software, and the idolization of aesthetics. Something about it felt familiar…

Well, other than being force to swap out their surface due to an issue with the hardware…

John Ringo\’s Queen of Wands….

I am in the middle of reading \”Queen of Wands\”….  And I just ran into a small easter egg / Cameo / Cross-over…
There\’s a character, named Artie… Which is asking Barb to place an \”Artifact\” into  a bag.  Who happens to be a Secret Service agent, that handle \”static items. Artifacts. Power Symbols\”.
Which of course, as soon as the artifact goes into the bag:

There was a brief flash of purple light and the feeling of malevolence dropped to nearly nothing.

Yes, it seems that John Ringo has put a Warehouse 13 cameo into his latest book…

How Apple uses Anodizing finishes and how it\’s created…

The beautiful anodized aluminum finish on many Apple products keeps them from corrosion, provides a hard and (mostly) scratch resistant surface, and even — in the case of the iPod nano and shuffle — a beautiful color tint. But have you ever wondered about the process of anodizing? To give yourself an edge the next time you\’re trying to impress someone, watch the short video at the end of this post and learn everything you\’ve ever wanted to know about anodizing aluminum.

In the video, Bill Hammack the Engineer Guy provides a simple description of how oxidizing aluminum (basically making it \”rust\”, although that term specifically describes oxides of iron) can give a hard protective layer and be dyed to give coloration. Yes, Apple could produce multicolored MacBook Airs if they wished, all with a tough and scratch-free finish.
