MythBusters \’ Demolition Derby Special Kicks Off the New Season Tomorrow Night

I\’m envious of the GeekDads, they get all the cool information ahead of time…. So here\’s a repost of their information on tomorrow\’s MythBusters…

See MythBusters Demolition Derby Special Kicks Off the New Season Tomorrow Night for their coverage…
The MythBusters are back for a seventh season tomorrow night, and we at GeekDad couldn\’t be happier. It\’s no secret that we\’re all huge fans of the show, and the two-hour season premiere is more of the same great action we\’ve come to expect.

1) Adam and Jamie first look into whether the bus in Speed could really have made the sharp turn with all the passengers on one side
2) revisit the attempt to pancake the compact car between two semis from season three.
3) Meanwhile the other three work on driving cars through various things as seen in movies—including, among others, a fruit stand—and then attempt to recreate that Lexus ad from 2007 where the car on the ground beats the car dropped from a helicopter.

MythBusters airs on the Discovery Channel on Wednesdays at 9pm ET/PT and 8pm CT.

Live-action version of Full Metal Panic anime is headed for the big screen

From Sci Fi Wire (or is that SyFy WyR?)
Live-action version of Full Metal Panic anime is headed for the big screen:

Mandalay Pictures has acquired theatrical rights to and will develop a big-screen version of Full Metal Panic, a Japanese manga series that blends action, comedy and high school romance, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The property derives from writer Shoji Gatoh\’s series about a teenage anti-terrorist commando named Sousuke Sagara, who is given the mission to protect a high-school girl with mystical powers.

Step by Step Instructions on opening 24 in. Aluminum iMacs

On of my great complaints about the Aluminum series iMacs, is simply that nothing is a customer replaceable part.  The white iMac\’s that preceeded the aluminum (G5 & X86) were fantastic, with just about every component from the motherboard to the DVD drive, were completely customer replaceable.  Apple even has instructions online for customers to download, giving step by step instructions on how to perform the upgrades…
The Digital Home blog on CNET news, gives instructions on how to open an aluminum iMac.  Please keep in mind, Apple does not recommend that customers open their Al. iMac.  Do so at your own risk…  While it is more expensive for a repair technician to do so, they at least guarantee their work, and if something goes wrong they get to pay for the repair / replacement.

Are Cookies Dangerous?

Myth – \”Cookies are Spyware.\”
Reality – \”Cookies are not Spyware. It\’s grossly irresponsible for these Anti-Spyware companies to treat cookies like Spyware. REAL Spyware is malicious, machine-hijacking junk that throw pop-ups on your computer, resets your start page, and all sorts of other ugly tricks. A cookie is a text file that has some non-personal information what banner ads have shown on certain sites. That\’s it. Go ahead and open the cookie on your computer and you\’ll see it\’s harmless. Cookies are not Spyware, no matter how hard these Anti-Spyware companies try to make them out to be.\”
Notes – Certain Cookies can still pose some privacy concerns and if you wish to remove them it will do no harm. The point is when you find many of these after running a standard Anti-Spyware scan you should not get excited that you are infected with malicious Spyware.
