Fox To Adapt Torchwood For The USA?
The first couple of series may have been roundly mocked in the UK. But they were a smash hit in the US, breaking viewer records at BBC America and driving a large audience to the cable channel.
Torchwood, adult sci-fi alien-chasing spinoff of Doctor Who was one of the very few shows to have a bisexual character in the lead, even if the bisexuality seemed to be catching, with all of the characters falling prey to its charms. And the third season, Children of Earth, is considered by many to be a modern classic.
Well, it’s now being reported that Fox has bought the rights to create their own version of Torchwood.
Fox famously aired their own version of Doctor Who in the mid nineties, which managed to kill any other chance of reviving the show for another ten years. There’s always the fear it could happen again.
But show creator Russell T Davies, producer Julie Gardner , the team behind UK’s Torchwood and the revival of Doctor Who are said to be producing the show with BBC Worldwide’s Jane Tranter, and you may see members of the original cast, including John Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness.
What\’s next, fear of fire?
Mankind makes tools, that is what helps to seperate us from the animals, and other beasts of burden… Â Or at least that is what we tell ourselves…
But, has it become that we are so used to new inventions and devices that we are afraid of making our own?  Or that someone that is an inventory is obviously untrust worthy since he is not part of  a corporate entity?  What happened to the small inventor, that makes his own business?

iPhone OS 4 About to Drop?
A new report suggests that iPhone OS 4.0 could be close to release, months before it would normally be expected. Apple has heretofore only released new firmware with new phone models. However, CNET reports that a \”prominent\” app developer says he\’s got the new SDK and has updated his app already. In the past, Apple has provided developer previews in March for new OS versions that are then released in June or July.
Rick Broida, who writes iPhone Atlas for CNET, noted today that he had gotten an email from a dev claiming that he's got a hold of iPhone OS 4.0:
iPhone OS 4.0 is imminent. At least, that's the only conclusion I can draw from an e-mail I just received from a prominent app developer.
The message includes the following snippet: \”Just wanted to give you a heads up that we\’ve submitted an updated app for the new iPhone OS 4.0 software.
Rumers have swirled ahead of the expected Apple tablet announcement later this month. An event – which is still unscheduled and unconfirmed – is supposedly going to happen at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, with the date variously being set as January 26 or January 27. The French site Mac4Ever said that the tablet announcement would be accompanied by an announcement of an iPhone 4.0 beta, which is purported to include a \”simulator\” mode that would allow apps to be run on larger screens. Some developers were said to have been given beta SDKs ahead of the announcement so that they could prepare demos to be shown at the event.
The website iPodNN had noted speculation on Wednesday that the iPhone OS update was being held back until the tablet was announced because the build contained too many references to the still-unannounced device.

Kodak sues RIM & Apple
Randy Gorbman (Rochester, N.Y.) – Kodak says it is filing lawsuits against Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) alleging the infringement of Kodak Digital Imaging technology.
Kodak has filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission claiming that Apple iPhones, and the camera-enabled Blackberry devices infringe on a Kodak patent that involves technology related to a method for previewing images.
In a separate action, Kodak filed two lawsuits against Apple in Western New York Federal Court. Those were in regards to patents related to digital cameras, and also technology used by computer programs.
Kodak says it is not trying to disrupt the availability of any product, but wants to obtain fair compensation for the use of its technology.
Kodak noted that it has licensed technology to about 30 companies.
