Why can\’t I see my extra hard drive?

i added another hard disk on my computer, but when I opened My Computer the extra hard disk was not on there. What\’s  happening?

Chances are you added the hard drive correctly, but you haven\’t finished installing it in Windows…It probably needs to be formatted.

  • Right-click on My Computer and select manage
  • Expand out Storage on the left and click on \”Disk Management\”
  • You should see your new disk located in the bottom-middle pane, probably labled \”Disk 1\”
  • Right-click your unformatted disk and follow the prompts through the wizard to format it correctly.

This should solve your problem.

Road Runner Upload Speed Increased for Standard Customers in Rochester, No Change for Turbo

Well, stop the cap has the details of basic RoadRunner speed increases for the Time-Warner Cable in Rochester, ny…. (And the region).
My view… Roadrunner turbo isn\’t currently worth the $9.99 difference between Standard & Turbo…

The Rochester-Finger Lakes Division of Time Warner Cable has upgraded upload speed for Road Runner Standard service customers, up from 384kbps to 1Mbps effective over the weekend.  Stop the Cap! reader Sergey first noticed a change on Thursday evening, but it took the weekend for the upgrade to make its way across the region.  Standard service is now 10/1Mbps in Rochester, although the Powerboost feature, also included for all Road Runner customers, can create speed test results showing 20-25Mbps download speeds, at least at the start of a file transfer.

The upgrade may make Road Runner Turbo less valuable, as no corresponding increase in upload speed for that package has been noted.  Turbo provides Rochester Road Runner customers with 15/1Mbps service and remains at those speeds.

According to Time Warner Cable’s website, the increase brings Rochester closer to the speeds other nearby cities have.  Buffalo enjoys double the upload speed, however.

  • Buffalo/Western NY:  Standard: 10/1Mbps   Turbo: 15/2Mbps
  • Syracuse/Central NY: Standard: 10/1Mbps  Turbo: 15/1Mbps
  • Albany: Standard: 10/1Mbps  Turbo: 15/1Mbps

If you are not receiving improved speeds yet, unplug your cable modem briefly and plug it back in.

Blogtor Who

From Blogtor Who:
Billie Piper tells Jonathan that David Tennant is a better kisser than Matt Smith but she has finally said goodbye to Doctor Who: \’I think enough is enough now.\’\”
Thank you!
That\’s a relief…. Rose was a good character, but it\’s time to set the Rose down in that alternative universe, and tell her to not show her head for a years (at least!).

Rex on hold for present.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that NBC have put David Tennant\’s US pilot Rex is Not Your Lawyer on hold. There were reports that it was under consideration to fill a 10pm slot this spring, to help fill the space on the network caused by moving the Jay Leno show out of primetime.
However it now appears the network has passed, for now, on the show, with the sets being dismantled this week. There is a possibility that the show will be commissioned in the fall and sets are beings stored in case that happens.
NBC have not commented on the story.

Grumble… Grumble… Pout and Tumble.
I was looking forward to see Rex is not my Lawyer… Tennant has been a fantastic Doctor, and it would be nice to see him in another Mainstream series… While I am a little concerned at how well the premise would carry on in a weekly series… It was certainly worth a viewing…
Here\’s hoping it\’s a temporary setback…

Let\’s Ban the TV!! Isn\’t the life we save worth it?

Well, okay, I\’m being snarky on this one…
But the GeekDad\’s touch on a important issue today…

Our current obsession with thin has caused some problems with respect to safety. The most current published stats are from 2007, but during the 1990 to 2007 time frame -a period that marks the transition from bulky CRTs to relatively svelte flat screens- the number of children injured by toppling furniture rose 41 percent, with nearly half of the carnage caused by TVs. To put that in perspective, 17,000 children in the US had to be rushed to Emergency in 2007 after furniture fell on them, with half that number being TV victims. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, seven people were killed by falling TVs in 2000, with the number rising to 23 deaths in 2006. Why should this be?  [Emphasis added]

Be careful when setting up your hardware, make sure it\’s safe and secure.  Not only will you help keep your little ones safe, but you won\’t have to pay to have it replaced, nor for the Bill from the Emergency room.
