There\’s plenty of talk here about Home Automation, but what if you want to control your home automation via your home theatre? Â Here is an article from Automated Home, that discusses integrating the Plex Home Theatre plugin with Indigo for access to your home automation while sitting on your couch / loveseat / etc…
Automated Home – Mac Home Automation on your TV with Indigo and Plex.
Tron Legacy
Well, the trailer looks interesting…. Not much details on the plot line, but boy do the effects look fantastic…
Q&A: Why is it Office:Mac 2011 if its coming out this year?
Yeah! Microsoft is selling cars?
I got this one via email, and I\’ve seen variants of it elsewhere:
i thought office was coming out this year, why is the name of it office 2011?
Our naming is like that of cars: if it comes out in the first half of the year, it gets that year; if it comes out in the second half of the year, it\’s the next year. The next version of Office:Mac is coming out for the holidays this year, so that\’s Office:Mac 2011.
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 confirmed… Macintosh…
Right from the horses mouth…:
Steam on the Mac will behave just like Steam for Windows, but through Steam Play will add cross-platform ownership. That means if you own Left 4 Dead 2 for Windows, then you already own it for the Mac. There\’s no need to buy it twice! Unless you want to buy it twice, in which case, as long as you\’re feeling so generous, why not buy it five times?
Plus, Mac and Windows players can go head-to-head, since both Left 4 Deads are cross-platform compatible. Mac owners can even host their own servers and create their own maps, just like Windows users.
The Mac Versions of L4D1 and 2 don\’t run under emulation software but in native code. That\’s technical talk for how cool your friends will think you are with your five copies of Left 4 Dead 2 for the Mac.
We\’ll be releasing the exact system requirements soon. The Mac versions will be updated in sync with the Windows versions, so the platform wars can continue uninterrupted.
Felicia Day? SyFy? Oh No…
Great, just great… Â Now I will have to consider watching SyFy, but at least it\’s not until 2011…
Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible\’s Sing-a-long Blog) will portray a werewolf-hunting descendant of Little Red Riding Hood in the new Syfy Saturday Original Movie Red, which is slated to premiere in 2011.
Why is this an issue? Â Well, they simply don\’t have anything on that really interests me… Â B-Grade movies, the only thing interesting is Eureka!, and Warehouse 13… Â I will occassionally catch those…
So, hopefully SyFy will actually consider more items that are interesting, and not just silly Z-Grade movies…
Steam News – Coming to the Mac
Leading Gaming Service Expands to Mac Platform
Valve announced today it will bring Steam, Valve's gaming service, and Source, Valve's gaming engine, to the Mac.
Steam and Valve's library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series will be available in April.
\”As we transition from entertainment as a product to entertainment as a service, customers and developers need open, high-quality Internet clients,\” said Gabe Newell, President of Valve. \”The Mac is a great platform for entertainment services.\”
Boy, did I call it…. Â Available in April…
Maybe not April 1st, like I had suspected, but definitely not Christmas time… Â Well, okay, that was mostly refering to Portal 2… Â But still, we\’ll see… Â <grin>
It\’ll be nice, but I hope that I don\’t have to repurchase the Orange box to get Portal for the Mac.
— Update…
Valve also announced that game licenses can transgress platforms, so any game that you purchased for the PC will also work once it comes to the Mac, with no additional fee.
Whoo Hoo! Â Great news for us… Â So, no need to purchase the orange box…. Â And they have stated that Portal 2 will be released for the Mac & PC simultaneously.
Excellent work Steam! Â I\’ll be looking forward to more great games….
First iPad ad premieres during the Oscars
From Engagdet…
Apple\’s doing the Oscars up right tonight — not only was Steve Jobs making friends on the red carpet, but the company ran the first iPad ad just now during the broadcast. It\’s pretty much what you\’d expect out of an Apple ad, but, you know, more magical. Get ready for a blitz of these as we lead up to April 3. Video Here…
Iron Man 2, now with 150% more action…
Well, I was a little concerned, after all Iron Man (1), was sooo good… Â I didn\’t see how the sequel could match up to it…
But the new trailer has just won me over… Â It\’s looking excellent, with more action adventure… Â The return of the briefcase armor, and War Machine (potentially?)… Â It looks like it might be the start of the Armor wars plot line from the early 90\’s….
