What\’s wrong about inventing your own cursors?  Or about using non-standard animations?  Pierre Iggot (Betalogue) expands on his previous discussion on where Adobe has gotten it wrong, when giving \”wait\” feedback to the user.
In short, Adobe uses a custom \”waiting\” cursor animation when doing certain actions (eg. Loading a large file).  Pierre discusses the Apple Guidelines on this, and how this is completely non-standard….

NGE: Nobody Dies Chapter 6: Welcome to Tokyo3, an Evangelion fanfic – FanFiction.Net

Neon Genesis Evangelion fan fiction can be very very tricky.  After all, NGE isn\’t a \”feel good\” TV show (& Movies).  Often, it simply follows the old Ortho commercial,  \”Everyone Dies…\”.
Well, what about changing the fundamental equation?  NGE: Nobody Dies has quite a bit of good humor, and does they by postulating that Yui (Shinji\’s Mother) wasn\’t \”killed\” during the first Startup of Unit 1.  Thus, she raises Rei instead of Gendo, and boy are there some significant differences in personality.
And the writing & humor are remarkable for a NGE fanfiction…

It is not every day an aircraft carrier comes into port at Tokyo-3. Especially an aircraft carrier with a kneeling Evangelion on the flight deck. The armor is somewhat red, due to rust from the salt water from the remaining day of the journey, in addition to heat from the Angel\’s explosion. From a certain point of view, Unit 01 seems to be sleeping, or contemplating. Both would be true, but would require a far longer explanation of the actual true nature of Evangelion 01 than is permitted at this time. Instead, the people who are in the actual know are silent, and watching.
\”This will take a bit of explanation,\” Kozou Fuyutsuki says, hand over his eyes as the Over the Rainbow docks on the port side, a stairwell driving up to the side exit. The two are waiting, leaning on a black stretch limo as container trucks and dock workers clear the area for the coming entourage.
\”Which part?\” Gendo Ikari asks, hands in his pockets, \”Unit 01 creating a wormhole? Shinji managing a triple digit synch score apparently thanks to a wash out from the Eva program being in the Plug with him? Or Unit 01 going, as Katsuragi put it, \”Voltron on the Angel\’s ass?\”
\”Kihl will have a field day.\”

I am only up to Chapter 6, so there\’s plenty of room for a self-destruct…  But so far NGE: Nobody Dies, is a good recommendation for reading.  If anything, just for the alternative look at the characters…

The Starz pay channel just announced that it has picked up the U.S. rights for a new 10-episode season of Torchwood with all the key players returning. This new version of Torchwood is expected to air during the summer of 2011 on Starz in the U.S. and on BBC One in the U.K.
John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, along with new cast members, as the series takes on a more international scope.

I don\’t generally post unconfirmed rumors here… But, a friend of an friend, of an friend has told me that Edward is being replaced in the next Twilight movie…

My understanding is that our new lead is a tad bit older, and is played by Graf Zahl.  I haven\’t found much out about him, but I believe he was born somewhere around November, 1972…  The following photo is believed to be one of the few test shots, with special effects, for casting purposes…
